About

' Some of the sessions blew my mind and opened me up to a different way of being in my world. I began to learn how to feel my questions in my body instead of old prison-like ways. It is hard to describe with words how revelatory and expanding that was.'

Stella, gardener

' Her facilitation held space for the unknown, for play, and for honest inquiry — which in turn helped me access deeper layers of knowing and expression that I hadn't anticipated.'

Sophia, somatic practitioner

The Movement Lab is one of the very few spaces where the body as a way of knowing is given full permission. We experiment and explore the body as an intelligent, sensing, relational presence.

No technique to follow.
No style to acquire.
No right way to move.
No outcome to produce.

The self is constantly being reconfigured — through movement, through the environment, through others. In the lab, we enter more consciously into that dialogue between inner and outer worlds. Through this process of co-creation, fresh perspectives on ourselves emerge that could not have been reached alone.

This taster is an invitation to experience this way of working before committing to the 10 week lab, where you will follow a question, an inquiry, or simply a sense that something is waiting to emerge.

The full lab runs 7 October – 9 December, 10 weeks, Wednesdays 6:30–8pm.
Full lab: £160 concession (one place) · £180 standard · £200 supporter

Who is it for?

This lab is for artists, makers, writers, movers, thinkers, seekers or anyone who wants to explore movement as a source of insight, not just expression. You don’t need a set project or goal—just curiosity and a willingness to step into the unknown. No movement experienced needed!

Facilitator bio

Claire Loussouarn is a movement artist, facilitator, and writer whose work grows from an eight-year, ongoing relationship with the common land of Hackney Marshes. This land is a living collaborator that has shaped her practice through seasons of return, observation, and bodily listening.

She is the author of _How to be feral: movement practices to re-wild your body_ (2024, Triarchy Press), a practice-led book offering concrete, embodied ways to unsettle human exceptionalism and re-enter kinship with the more-than-human world.

Together with filmmaker Dominique Rivoal, she co-created _We are grass, we are plants, we are Hackney Marshes_ — a four-screen immersive film installation with 3D sound, slowly foraged and co-composed over six years of filming, moving, and shared attention.

In her teaching, Claire works at the threshold of not-knowing. She invites people to remain with uncertainty long enough for something genuinely new to emerge. Her work values repetition, attention and long-term practice over quick insights or fixed outcomes. She supports people to stay with the unknown, listen closely, and discover another layer of themselves.
